جـلـس شـحـاذ عـلـى الـطـريـق لأكـثـر مـن ثـلاثيـن سنة...
وفـى أحـد الأيــام مــر عـلـيه رجــل غــريـب عـن المنــطقــة
فـــقـــال لــــه الــشــحاذ: أعطني بــعــض الــمــال.
فـــأجــابـه الــرجــل قــائـــلًا: لـيــس لـدى مـا أعـطيــك ، ولـــكــن مــا هــو هـــذا الشيء الذي تـجلــس عــليـه؟
فأجــابـــه الــشــحـاذ: "إنــه صنــدوق قــديـم أجـلـس عــلــيه مـنـذ زمـــن بــعــيـد".

قـــال الــرجــل: "هـــل حــاولـت أن تـفــتـحـه لــترى مــا في داخــلـه؟ "أجــاب الـشحــاذ قــائــلًا:
"بالـــطــبع لا، فــلا يــوجــد في داخلــه أي شيء، فـهـو فـــارغ".

ولـــكــن مــع إصـــرار الــرجــل عــلــى أن يــرى الــشــحــاذ مـا في داخــل الـصنـدوق فـتحه لـيــصـدم بــوجــود كنــز مـن الـذهـب.

واكـتـشــف الــشـحـاذ أنــه عــاش عــمــره كــلــه شـحـاذًا وهـــو يجلس على كنز.
